On the A side, the long-awaited New Mastersounds "RE::MIXED" album project. A bunch of talented contemporary funk, nu jazz and broken soul remixers were asked to work on NMS’ “raw” deep funk sound and the result is NEW MASTERSOUNDS RE::MIXED. Let us give you a foretaste of the delight to come! We spotted Dj B (aka UK producer Barrie Gledden), Drop it Down rmx on the superior 45 format. Full of hard hittin’ guitars and heavy breaks, this remix will be loved by all b-boys and funky guys/gals out there … destined to rock every dancefloor! On the B side, after their impressive debut with the 12” Drums and Brass on German Pulver Records, the Milan’s producers Steven Perri & Zamaun are back with their meltin' pot of jazz, Latin, funk, Latin and breaks. Check out this irresistible funky “Street scene” full of percussions, grooves and flute, you’ll list them among your favourite contemporary producers. Both big beat and rare groove fans will love it. The track is actually taken from SoulShaker vol.4 volume.

I'd recommend getting the full set of singles by Mohawkestra. Every track is killer. Paint it black breathes new life into what we all know is one of the Stone's best. Outrageously funky playing, and super, super in the pocket. I was curious about the name of group. Wondered whether it was from a shared love of Alan Hawkshaw and Sun Ra?
